BELLEVUE FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND ON COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE FIRE
On Monday morning, July 26th, 2010, Bellevue Firefighters were dispatched to assist Eastside Fire and Rescue with a commercial structure fire in the Issaquah area. The fire was reported in a restaurant when employees noticed the odor of increasing smoke and then found heavy black smoke in the ceiling crawl space. The employees and customers quickly evacuated. Arriving firefighters discovered a fire burning in the overhead and rapidly worked to contain and extinguish it. The fire was successfully held in check. In all, Engine 8, 71, 72, Ladder 73, and Battalion 71 responded on the fire. No injuries were reported. Proper cleaning of cooking equipment and regular inspection and cleaning of exhaust ducts are an important safeguard in preventing fires.
