BELLEVUE FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE TWO SUSPICIOUS FIRES
On Thursday January 21st 2010 at around 2:15 in the morning, Bellevue Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in a strip mall near Bellevue Square in the central business district. The fire was reported by a police officer on routine patrol who smelled smoke and went to investigate, finding the fire spreading on the exterior of the commercial structure. First arriving Engine 1's crew rapidly attacked the exterior fire and achieved a quick knockdown. Supporting crews ventilated the structure and assisted with extinguishment. Fifteen minutes later, and only a few blocks away Bellevue Firefighters were dispatched to yet another fire. This one had apparently been set in a dumpster in yet another commercial area. This fire was likewise rapidly extinguished by Engine 5's crew. A Bellevue Fire Investigator investigated both fires and is working with Bellevue Police in the search for a potential arsonist. In all, Engine 1, 5, 7, Ladder 1, 3, Medic 1, Aid 1, MSO 5, and Battalion 1 responded to the fires. No injuries were reported.
