ABOUT THE BELLEVUE PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS

Bellevue Professional Firefighters (IAFF Local #1604) are proud to serve the cities of Bellevue, Beau Arts, Clyde Hill, Hunt's Point, Medina, and Newcastle. In addition, Bellevue Firefighter/Paramedics provide paramedic service to the communities of Mercer Island, Issaquah, Sammamish, Preston, Fall City, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Wilderness Rim, parts of Kirkland, and areas of unincorporated King County. Bellevue Firefighters operate out of 9 Fire Stations including Station 1 (downtown), Station 2 (Eastgate), Station 3 (Crossroads), Station 4 (Factoria), Station 5 (Clyde Hill), Station 6 (Overlake), Station 7 (Wilburton), Station 8 (Lakemont-Cougar Mountain), and Station 9 (Newport Hills). The Bellevue Fire Department is an Internationally Accredited Fire Department and has an ISO rating of 2. This is the highest level currently awarded in Washington state.

This website is hosted by International Association of Firefighters Local 1604 (Bellevue WA Firefighters). This is not the City of Bellevue Fire Department's website. For "official" information from the City of Bellevue Fire Department such as access numbers, CPR class registration, fire prevention questions and other inquiries, visit the City of Bellevue Fire Department website.

IAFF Local 1604 Bellevue Firefighters represents the firefighters, company officers, battalion chiefs, and fire inspector/investigators of the Bellevue Fire Department.

A Diverse Area
The Bellevue Fire Department coverage area is diverse indeed. It's not unheard of for Bellevue Firefighters assigned to Engine 1 to be climbing the stairs of a downtown high-rise incident at the same time that Firefighter/Paramedics assigned to Medic 3 are climbing a steep mountain trail to rescue a critically injured hiker. Bellevue is nearly surrounded by water, including Lake Washington to the west, Lake Sammamish to the east and several smaller lakes within the city proper. As a result, waterborne incidents are also a possiblity. Though the City's downtown business district is very urban in nature with scores of high-rise buildings and large commercial properties, Bellevue is also home to numerous hillside areas that present neighborhoods with an wildland/urban interface fire threat. Interstate 90 and 405 cross the city along with rail lines presenting the potential for transportation and hazardous materials incidents. The city is also home to Overlake Hospital and Eastside Group Health Hospital.

Bellevue Professional Firefighters are active in community events and sponsor a Community Support Foundation. We are pleased to be a supporting part of the community in which our members both work and reside. We are also active in local politics, working for better public safety in the areas of increased staffing for neighborhood fire stations. Our members are involved in fund raising for the Burn Foundation to support burn victims, as well as fundraising projects for diseases such as muscular dystrophy, and cancer. Both on-duty and off, Bellevue's Professional Firefighters are serving their community.
